Returning from Camp

Going to Camp

Our return
flight to Klamath Falls on Saturday was successful. Matt was appreciative of our
service, including the flight itself, in-flight (we carry plenty of snacks), and
the comfort stop we made at Beaver Marsh airport during the last hour of the
trip. We left Tacoma just after 11:00 AM and arrived at K Falls just before 3:00
PM.
It was a great day for a flight, although eight hours in the plane, including
two hours of turbulence caused by the westerly flow over the cascades, made for
a LONG flying day.
Deb & I were honored to assist Camp To Belong’s ministry this week, especially
for the benefit of Matt and his brother.

My
wife, Ashley, and I are full time missionaries through Youth With A
Mission based out of Salem, Oregon. From November 12th to December 12th
we traveled up the coast in a minivan filled with three other
team-members while we filmed a documentary on Human Trafficking along
the west coast of the United States.
After our trip, we thought it would be a good idea to stop and rest for
the Christmas holiday coming up. So on our way back south to Oregon, our
team dropped us off with our families in Port Orchard, Washington. It
was so good to see the family and spend time with loved ones. We were so
blessed this year that we were able to give a few gifts to family
ourselves!
When it was time to go home and get back to work, I was reminded of the
Pilots For Christ Washington chapter. Having no vehicle, and having been
encouraged in the past to let them know if we ever needed anything, we
decided to contact them. Almost immediately, a pilot volunteered to fly
us back down to Salem.
When we arrived at Bremerton International Airport, our pilot, Jim Tracy
greeted us and helped us pack our luggage. It’s a good thing we warned
him that we were bringing home film gear and gifts for friends including
our own gifts we had received during Christmas. Jim had pulled out a row
of seats in his 6 seater piper to allow for all of our things to fit. He
told me it’s a good thing he was our pilot. Not all the aircraft in the
fleet could have handled that amount of cargo. We are used to living out
of suitcases so it was almost embarrassing to bring home so much stuff;
but it all fit and soon we were in the air.
Jim fielded my questions about aeronautics and showed us all the sights
he could name off. It was so beautiful up there. When I asked him if the
plane could “stall out” if we went inverted he responded, “I don’t like
all the acrobatic stuff. I like flying because of the procedures. I love
procedure.” I’m glad to know he loves it so much.
In only 1 and a half hours we were in Salem where a friend picked us up
and Jim raced off to beat the weather home. We had such a wonderful time
and were blessed to be given such a generous offer. Thank you so much
Jim and all the Pilots For Christ family.
God Bless,
